Recently word went viral all over that Dropbox was hacked and that the user’s information was no longer safe with them. The information that Dropbox termed as false and malicious has made Dropbox give more information to have tips to stay safe when operating online.

People actually believed the rumours as some log in details were seen online. They actually went ahead to change their user information and passwords to ensure that they are safe. Dropbox verified and was able to establish that the posted information did not match any of the accounts that Dropbox has.

Dropbox reported that they strongly know that the information was stolen from another service, with the hackers trying to log in to Dropbox with the same information. Dropbox however term this as unhealthy competition and has put in place measures that ensure that their uses are safe, with one step is automatically resetting the accounts. They strongly advice users to always make their passwords unique and try not to use one passwords on all your accounts online.

Dropbox assured users that the recent news that said that Dropbox was hacked were just mere claims. The login details referenced that the hackers tried to log in with the details thinking that they could get away with it. They have since put measures in place to identify the suspicions and will automatically change the passwords.

The company assured their users that they are still very committed to build a team with diversity and able to create innovations that they may be able to use all over the world.  They said that the users and other internet browser should be very mean with information online as attacks that recently happened to Dropbox are just activities that lessen the security of your accounts exposing them to such attacks. They have since established education to the users with tips of safety.

Most of the attacks makes you divulge some useful information that will make your accounts vulnerable to hackers.

The following tips could help you stay safe:

  1. You should carefully know what you click on, download and install on your device.
  2. If you are suspicious about a link on the email, you should directly check the home page and also ensure you verify.
  3. Ensure that you carefully verify your Dropbox account, with the steps provided.
  4. Always ensure that you use the current versions and enable security updates for your browsers, applications softwares.as soon as you receive them.
  5. Get anti-virus and other security protection tools provided to protect your device.
  6. Ensure that your computer is prevented against malice and malpractices that can destroy your device.

It is important to note that the attacks may look so real and so you need to be very ken and know exactly how the attacks looks like so that you do not fall victim. The best way also to protect other user and yourself from these attacks, is to report any suspicion you may come across.
