So for all of you itching to try Ascend: Hand of Kul on another platform, or are simply looking to pass the time with a free-to-play RPG game; this announcement from Signal Studios is a welcome one. Ascend: Hand of Kul is known for being exclusive on the Xbox 360 since it’s release in 2013. It accumulated a lot of praise for being well-thought out and constructed, and held some bonus points from the gaming community for being free-to-play as long as the member held a valid subscription to Xbox Live’s Arcade. Due to it’s success on the market, Steam has decided to distribute the RPG and offer it for the same price of “free” to those whom are inclined to take their gaming on PC rather than another console. Signal Studios has taken the necessary steps to incline the launch of Ascend: Hand of Kul, which’ll be made accessible on May 20th via Steam.
While an online RPG is rather unexpected from Signal Studios, who’s array of releases included Toy Soldiers and its sequel Toy Soldiers: Cold War, the expansion onto PC gamers was a predictable one. Many games in the RPG genre have reached their peak after being released for PC; and the developers over at Signal Studios are confident that Ascend: Hand of Kul will perform above their expectations on the competitive market.
The cinematic trailer released three days prior was published by IGN to rally support for the upcoming release onto a new platform. The footage itself maintains a lot of the charm that Xbox Live players will find familiar to the version on their respective Xbox consoles. Take a moment to glimpse at some of the eye-candy that will no doubt continue to flow as we encroach the impending launch.
In short, Ascend: Hand of Kul has undergone some detrimental transformations in order to hop from their old compatibility with Microsoft and dabble in various fields. Whether or not it will retain the success that Signal Studios is expecting to receive from numerous game consumers has yet to be seen.
