The new ROG NUC 16, a small gaming PC intended for creators, gamers, and AI-focused tasks, has been formally unveiled by ASUS ROG. Despite its small 3-liter chassis, the system packs flagship-level hardware and upgraded cooling technology.
The new machine is powered by Intel’s Core Ultra 9 290HX processor alongside the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop GPU. ASUS says the device supports up to 128GB of DDR5-6400 memory and includes NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 with Multi-Frame Generation for smoother gameplay and faster rendering performance in demanding titles.
According to the company, the ROG NUC 16 can deliver up to 1334 AI TOPS, positioning it as a compact option for local AI processing, generative AI tools, and large language model workloads without relying entirely on cloud infrastructure. ASUS also claims the system offers a noticeable performance improvement over previous ROG NUC models in synthetic gaming benchmarks.
Cooling is another major focus of the new release. To increase thermal efficiency during gaming sessions and demanding productivity tasks, the upgraded QuietFlow Cooling system combines three fans with a dual vapour chamber arrangement. ASUS states the redesign increases CPU cooling coverage while helping reduce throttling under sustained loads.
The mini gaming PC also introduces a refreshed chassis design, including a new Moonlight White Edition. Users can place the system either vertically or horizontally thanks to its detachable stand. In addition, the ROG NUC 16 supports up to five 4K displays and includes Thunderbolt 4 connectivity for high-speed peripherals and data transfers.
The revised design introduces a new Moonlight White variant, as well as a more adaptable setup option that enables the system to either stand upright or lie flat based on the desk space available. ASUS has outfitted the ROG NUC 16 with Thunderbolt 4 support, allowing it to operate up to five 4K monitors simultaneously, providing users ample space for gaming, streaming, or content creation. The company seems to be targeting gamers who desire robust hardware in a compact form, a trend that has already been observed in high-end gaming PCs as noted by Gamerheadlines.
