Xbox is bringing Gears of War: E-Day to Los Angeles for a one-night Emergence Day takeover at Hollywood & Vine on September 30. The event runs from 3pm to 10pm Pacific time, and fans can begin queuing for access at 12pm Pacific that day, according to an announcement on Xbox Wire.
The takeover celebrates the launch of Gears of War: E-Day and brings Emergence Day from the streets of Kalona, the game’s setting, to Los Angeles. An Emergence Hole and a Corpser statue will transform Hollywood & Vine into an experience inspired by Emergence Day, letting attendees get closer to the action and see what the game has in store. The one-night event is aimed at both longtime Gears fans and players experiencing the series for the first time.
First 500 attendees get early access
The first 500 attendees will be able to play Gears of War: E-Day before the official Early Access launch, meet up with other Gears fans, win prizes, and enjoy free themed food and beverage options. Xbox says the evening also includes exclusive giveaways.
Gears of War: E-Day is rated M for Mature, and the event is no different, so all guests must be 18 years of age or older to attend.
Cosplay perks and a controller prize
Fans who come dressed in their favorite Gears of War merchandise or cosplay, from COG armor to Gears gear, get a chance to win prizes. The giveaways include an Xbox Design Lab Gears of War: E-Day-inspired controller designed by illustrator and long-time collaborator Luke Preece.
The event also includes themed refreshments with food, treats, and beverages, plus an airbrush Gears of War tattoo and a photo booth to commemorate the launch of Gears of War: E-Day. Guests wearing Gears of War merchandise will get access to a fast line.
How to attend
The takeover is one night only, and access is granted on a first-come, first-served basis. Capacity is limited, so fans should plan to arrive for the 12pm Pacific queue time.
