The Coalition has announced that Gears of War: E-Day has gone gold, a milestone that puts the studio in the final stretch toward launch. According to Xbox Wire, the prequel from Xbox Game Studios arrives worldwide on October 6 at 8:00 am Pacific Time (15:00 UTC) across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Steam, with Early Access opening earlier on October 1 at 8:00 am Pacific Time (15:00 UTC).
Pre-Install and Early Access Timing
Pre-install begins September 29 at 8:00 am Pacific Time (15:00 UTC) on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Steam, giving players a head start on the download before servers open. Premium Edition owners can begin playing up to five days early, starting October 1, while Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members can play from October 6. Pre-orders are live now at GearsofWar.com.
The studio has kept working on the PC build since the game’s July open beta, continuing to iterate on stability and performance. The complete PC specifications were revealed alongside the gold announcement, though the exact hardware figures are presented in an image in the source. A separate September 9 announcement shared the full achievement list.
Premium Edition and What Is Included
The Premium Edition is priced at $99.99 and bundles the base game, up to five days of early access, the Bravo Squad Signature Weapon Pack, five Seasonal Customization Packs (the first, the Emergence Pack, arrives at launch, with the remaining packs releasing later), and 1,000 Iron premium currency.
Campaign, Multiplayer, and PC Targets
E-Day is a prequel set 14 years before the original Gears of War, following Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago as the Locust Horde first erupts from below. Multiplayer includes Horde Siege, an evolved take on Gears’ co-op wave survival built for larger maps and four-player squads with the Assault, Marksman, Medic, and Breacher classes, plus Versus, a refined 4v4 PvP mode with Ranked and Social playlists.
Two-player split-screen co-op is supported, and up to four players can team up online across Campaign, Horde Siege, and Versus. The game is built in Unreal Engine 5, targeting 4K resolution and up to 60 FPS across Campaign and Multiplayer. The title is available day one with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, following a beta period that, as previously reported, saw the open beta headlined Game Pass additions.
