Monster Hunter Rise has sold more than 20 million copies, Capcom announced on October 6, 2026. The studio shared the news in a post on the game’s Steam Community page, alongside a Dango-filled special artwork created to celebrate the milestone. The message thanked players, addressing them as the hunters of Kamura, the village where the game begins. The action RPG is currently discounted on Steam. The announcement is the first public update on the game’s lifetime sales since Capcom’s June report.

A Long Tail Across Five Platforms

Developed and published by Capcom, Monster Hunter Rise runs on the RE Engine. The game is set in Kamura Village. It first launched on Nintendo Switch on March 26, 2021, and a Windows version reached Steam on January 12, 2022. Ports for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S arrived on January 20, 2023.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, a paid expansion, launched on June 30, 2022. It added Master Rank hunts, new monsters, and new hunting areas, and it is centered on the Elder Dragon Malzeno. The expansion also brought back monsters from earlier entries in the series, and it reached consoles on April 28, 2023. Sunbreak is the game’s only major expansion.

The Road to 20 Million

Capcom’s previous sales update, covering figures through June 30, 2026, listed Monster Hunter Rise at 19.3 million units. The October 6 announcement carries the published total past 20 million, so the game crossed the threshold in the months since that June report. The milestone comes more than five years after the game first launched.

Monster Hunter: World, which launched in 2018, has passed 30 million units including its Iceborne expansion. That total keeps World ahead of Rise in lifetime sales and makes it the best-selling game in the series.

Where Rise Sits in Capcom’s Lineup

Capcom has logged other sales milestones this year as well. Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, the publisher’s action RPG, passed 1.3 million units on Nintendo Switch, according to the publisher’s earlier update.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, the next mainline entry in the series, was revealed at Tokyo Game Show 2026.
