Released not too long ago, the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 has been receiving mixed reactions from the public mainly because of its high price tag. But having in mind that Samsung is known to release high quality, decently priced phones why is their newest addition to the Galaxy line so controversial?
Design & Specifications
The smartphone’s design is sleek and stylish and even though the phone is 146.8 x 75.3 x 8.9 mm in size its round edges make it quite easy to operate with one hand. The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 also has decent specification for the price range it is available at. It features a Quad-Core 1.2 Cortex-A7 processor, Adreno 305 GPU and Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset backed up by 1.5 GB of RAM. One of the features that make the phone stand out is the optional Dual SIM availability with dual standby capabilities.
Display & Sound
One of the main setbacks of the device is its display. Although it is 5.25 inches in size it has overall pixel density of about 280 ppi, making the smartphone’s maximum resolution 720 x 1280 pixels. Having in mind that its current competitors on the mobile market feature Full HD resolution, the display Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 doesn’t catch the eye. Even though the sound is clear and robust, watching movies or video on the device is not as good of an experience as on other smartphones such as the Google Nexus 5, which is available at a better price.
Battery Life
Featuring a 2600 mAh Li-Ion battery, the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 is able to withstand over 17 hours of talk time in a 3G network and about 370 hours in standby mode. The battery life of the smartphone is better than its competitors, a main reason for which may be the display featured on the device.

However as other smartphones manage to achieve better quality with 5 MP cameras, its overall performance is not as appreciable. The device also features a secondary 1.9 MP camera on the front making video conferencing possible.

The newest addition to the Galaxy line doesn’t stand out from the crowd. Even though its specifications are worthy of the current price of the phone, the quality of the display is far from the foremost runners on the current mobile market. That being said, the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 is not as worth of the price tag as other phones are, but is nonetheless a decent smartphone to have with, perfect for people who are looking for a dual SIM phone with high-quality specifications and are more interested in business and lifestyle apps rather than multimedia.
