Thanking Indie Developers Day Ten: Daniel Remar

by GH Staff

Note: Sorry for the unfortunate delay. Gamer Headlines has moved to a new server on Sunday, which prevented some writers (like me) to be blocked from the website and emails. Therefore, we apologize for the inconvenience, but we will continue to do our best under these circumstances.

Today, Gamer Headlines recognizes the independent game developer Daniel Remar with his platform shooter  called Iji as the tenth entry for our on-going appreciation for indie game developers in this entire month. Released in 2008, this action-pack adventure follows a young heroine named Iji Kataiser who has been enhanced with nanotechnology. Henceforth, Iji has superhuman strength and abilities as well as a knack for  hacking nano-technological devices; she demonstrates these capabilities throughout the entire game as she defends herself from an invading force of an alien species known as the Tasen.

Depending on the player’s actions, the ending can alternate if the main character follows down the path of a pacifist or a killer. Besides the detailed story and alternate scenes, the video game has large levels with multiple paths, powerful bosses and lots of secrets. Additionally, folks can listen to the dialogues, collect extras and bonus features, and maximize the seven stats in a leveling system.

Besides the short introduction to this retro two-dimensional setting, someone has written this thank you message:

“I really appreciate the hard work that Daniel Remar placed in his games. Sometimes, quality of graphics and sounds cannot compete with the spirit and integrity that comes from a passionate developer. Yes, the game may not win the best-looking pixel artwork for its time, but the whole experience with Iji has made me feel more motivated enough to download a free online game engine to start my own studio and projects. If someone like Daniel Remar could pull off a neat game like Iji, I felt like I can accomplish one too. ”

For more information, please visit the official website. To submit an entry for this event, please read this article. We will continue to showcase more entries from November 1 to December 1. Therefore, don’t forget to share the love for other indie game developers by using #ThanksIndieDev in twitter messages for this entire month! They’ll appreciate the warm gratitude and feel more energized!
