Earlier today, an announcement was made for Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution 2 was made. The upcoming Civilization release will be for iOS.
The new Civilization is set to be released on all current iOS devices. Also, according to publisher 2K Games, Civilization Revolution 2 is “coming soon” to Android devices. There is no current word on other mobile devices.
2K Games also notes that “The game will combine the core tactical elements of the series with intuitive controls and a friendly user interface – designed specifically for mobile gamers on touch-pad devices”.
The original Civilization Revolution, having been released on HD consoles, introduced some interesting elements to the strategy genre. However, it did not port well to mobile devices. It will be interesting to see how much of an improvement was made over the first, considering Civilization Revolution 2 is going to be produced for mobile devices only.
Civilization Revolution 2 has a current release date of July 2nd for iOS devices.
