If you’re not familiar with it Clash of Clans is a fun mobile game for both Apple and Android devices that is based in Real Time Strategy (RTS). It’s a surprisingly fun and well made game for being Free to Play. You build your village, build your army and battle for glory! One of the unique things about this game is the Battle Online feature, you don’t fight computer opponents but other players out in the world. You can also choose to use real currency and convert it to in game cash to buy extras and give yourself an advantage.
The game is simple enough to play and recommend for anyone from ages 13 and up. Another interesting part of the game is that when you are not actively playing, there are things still taking place in the game. If you are attacked in the game while you were away by another player, you have a “Revenge” option that allows you spy on their village and plan your strategy before going in for some well deserved payback.
Make sure to put your Town Hall in a strategic location so that while you are away its less likely to be looted by vandals. You should also queue up your barracks to be training troops while you’re away so that when you get back you have a standing army ready for action!
One of the fun things about this game is that you do have to think and plan not only for when you are active, but also when you are away from the game, and this adds a whole other dimension to it and keeps you engaged and on your toes. The level of complexity available easily can be a challenging as much more advanced or expensive game, so it a cheap welcome distraction for anyone looking for a way to kill time on their mobile and perfect for long trips or vacations.
Clash of Clans can be best summed up as a rock-em, sock-em good time that will also make you think twice before you put it down.
