One of the biggest phenomena in the gaming world for all WarCraft fans in 2013 was the release of Hearthstone: Heroes of WarCraft. The game was far different than other titles released by Blizzard. It wasn’t an RPG or a Strategy, but a simple collectible card game. However, being both simple and extremely strategic at the same time the game captured the ‘hearths’ of many and quickly became one of the most famous eSports.
Even though the game is still in its Closed Beta stage, most of the people who wanted to get the Hearthstone: Heroes of WarCraft experience have already got the chance, as Blizzard announced it will give a beta key to everyone who opted in.
Once you start to play the game it is fairly easy to get the hang of the gameplay. When you start, the basic decks for every class seem to be quite amazing. However, once you start playing with real players in ranked games, you realise that you need to build a custom deck in order to quickly become one of the best.
The importance of Deck Building
As in every collectible card game, Deck Building is one of the main factors that can make you a real winner or a big-time loser. If you are able to match up just the right cards you may be able to quickly overthrow your opponent.
Know the cards
You don’t need to have every card available in order to build the perfect deck. However, you should know what cards could be at your disposal. When you are building your deck you can head over to sites such as Hearthhead. There you can find an amazing deck builder, where you can learn more about the cards in Hearthstone.
Have the right strategy in mind
Once you start building your deck you should already be aware of the game you’d want to play. Whether it would be an early aggro charge deck or a late-game one, you should be aware of what you will be doing at the very start of the build.
Do the Math
Even if Math is not your strong suit, you should have in mind the possibility of getting the right cards in your hand. Moreover, calculating your mana is crucial. For example, at Turn 1 you have 1 mana and 3 cards in your hand if you are first. The possibility of you getting the right three cards is not as high. But at Turn 8, when you have 8 mana, you’ve already drawn 10 cards from your deck, which is as high as 33% and if you already have 2 cards of the kind you need, the chances increase even further. Think of both situations – when you are a first and when you are second.
Know what you are up against
When you are building your deck in Hearthstone you should consider all the possible scenarios for your rivals. Could they have a taunt deck, an aggro one? What could their late game be? Having that in mind, think about how you could win against every possible rival.
Play time and time again and learn from your mistakes
Probably the most important tip for the ones that want to build their own deck in Hearthstone is this one. Don’t give up on a deck, just because you lost with it once. Play enough to be sure how to use the cards you have in your disposal and what weaknesses your deck has. Then, learning from your mistakes go back and change up your deck. Do this time and time again up to the point where you are certain that you have just the right deck in your hand.
Hearthstone is still in closed, but Blizzard is making sure that even before the game officially enters its Open Beta stage everyone who wants to experience the game will get the chance to do so. If you haven’t already – opt in for the beta and you should receive a key soon enough.
