Going over today’s smart devices it’s always a good idea to compare it to another smart device. Today we go over the two smart devices to see which out performs who, going over the design, display, sound, camera and battery life. Getting into as much detail as we can from processors to graphics to general user experience.
Design
Much like its predecessor, the HTC One M8 (2014) features a beautiful stylish design, a mix of business and casual. With a solid build withstanding almost any normal drop from tight high, the device is 5.76 x 2.78 x 0.37 inches in size, which makes it easy to grip. However, it may become at times a bit hard to the hand when extensively used due to its weight of 160 grams.
Specifications
Even though the specifications of the HTC One M8 (2014) keep up with the latest mobile trends and are better than the ones featured on its predecessor, the overall mobile experience is only slightly improved. The smart device harnesses the power of a Quad-Core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 processor that is backed up by Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, an Adreno 330 GPU and as much as 2 GB of RAM. This lets it run almost any application, including some of the latest high-end games, on the Android OS KitKat mobile application market.
Display & Camera
Except the 0.3 inch difference, there is almost no difference between the quality of the 5.0 inch display featured on the HTC One M8 (2014) and the one featured on its predecessor. Delivering an outstanding multimedia experience, its pixel density is as high as about 441 ppi, making its resolution size as much as 1080 x 1920 pixels. However, despite its high contrast and brightness, the smart device can be a bit harsh to use under direct sunlight, because of the glossy finish of its display.
Even though most people believe that the Dual 4 MP camera is not as powerful as cameras on other high-end mobile devices, because of its megapixels size, what most don’t take into account is the hundred software and hardware features that back it up. The HTC One M8 (2014) is able to capture photos of unique quality and is perfect to and video producing enthusiast as well as it is able to record videos at 1080p and 60FPS and at 720p and 60FPS with HDR, stereo sound recording and video stabilization. Moreover its secondary front 5MP camera makes video conferencing quite the enjoyable experience as it is able to record videos at 1080p and 30FPS and features HDR.
Battery Life
The non-removable Li-Po 2600 mAh battery may not seem enough to power the hardware of the HTC One M8 (2014), but due to the synchrony between the software and hardware, the device has an overall decent battery life. It is able to withstand about 14 hours of talktime in a 2G network, 20 hours of talk time in a 3G network, 9 hours of web browsing, 11 hours of video playback and as much as 496 hours in standby mode
Overall
The HTC One M8 (2014) definitely brings some improvements to the table and is a worthy successor of the HTC One (2013). However, with the mobile experience only slightly improved, the purchase of the device may be reconsidered by people who already own the HTC One or a similar powerful smart device.
