IKEA and Xbox have launched YXSTABY, a nine-piece gaming-inspired home collection designed for gaming at home. The launch was announced on Xbox Wire on October 1, 2026, the same day the collection reached IKEA stores. The two companies co-developed the range, with designers from each team working together on every piece. The result combines performance, comfort, and storage solutions.
Controller-inspired pieces
The Xbox controller is a recurring source of inspiration for the collection. That influence shapes how several pieces look and work. The classic D-pad appears in two pieces. One is a comfortable cushion, and the other is a decorative platter in stainless steel. A mirrored display box showcases a controller from every side, alongside figurines and other collectibles.
The nine-piece range also includes a gaming lounge chair and a monitor stand. It adds a TV stand on castors, a side table on castors, and a laptop support with storage and accessories.
Design details from the Xbox controller
The thumbstick stool shows that design approach in three dimensions. It was developed from the Xbox Wireless Controller’s original 3D design files, provided by Xbox device designers. The piece turns an object moved by a thumb into one designed to sit on.
Carl Ledbetter, Head of Design, Xbox Devices, explained the approach: “By translating elements like the D-pad and thumbstick into functional furniture, we created pieces that celebrate Xbox design while feeling completely at home in everyday living spaces.”
Philip Dilé, Product Developer at IKEA, gave the IKEA view: “we worked closely with XBOX to reimagine familiar forms into playful, functional pieces that make it easier for people to bring their love of gaming into the spaces where they live.”
The controller’s design has already inspired real products, including limited edition Gears of War: E-Day controllers. The YXSTABY launch follows a year in which Xbox has widened where its brand appears, including a rollout that puts the Xbox app on select TCL smart TVs.
Launch timing
The YXSTABY collection will arrive online later this year. Availability may vary by market. The Xbox Wire announcement was titled “IKEA and XBOX Team Up on YXSTABY, a New Collection Made for Gaming at Home”.
