The Creative Assembly’s upcoming first-person survival horror title, Alien: Isolation, is scheduled to be released across multi-platforms this October, but Gary Napper, lead designer on Alien: Isolation, has discussed why he prefers the PlayStation 4 version of the game.

“My favourite version is the PS4 version – and I say that as a massive Microsoft fan – so to say the PS4 version is my favourite feels a bit weird,” Napper told NowGamer in an interview. “The reason is – and it’s so minor – but we’ve made the DS4 to act like the motion tracker, so it lights up along with the radar blips and if the alien’s close-by it goes off quicker it adds so much immersion, when it’s all dark and your legs are lit up in your peripheral vision.”

According to Napper, the main difference between the seventh and eight generation version of the title is the visuals, while the AI will offer the same experience to players on any system. Additionally, Napper also said “we’ve got something specific going on with each of the platforms,” but no further information was added as to what that might be.

Alien: Isolation is set in the year 2137, where the player will step into the role of Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda, as she begins to investigate the disappearance of her mother and searches for a missing flight recorder left on the Nostromo. With that being said, the journey isn’t going to be easy considering there is an alien already on board and begins to hunt down the player.

Two pre-order incentives — the Nostromo Edition and Crew Expendable mission — have been confirmed for the title, allowing enthusiastic Alien fans the opportunity to experience missions as the original crew of the Nostromo from Ridley Scott’s 1979 cult classic Alien. More details on both of those bonuses can be found here at Gamer Headlines.

Alien: Isolation is still on schedule for release worldwide on October 7th for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
