Today we are comparing two very competitive smart devices, the LG G Pro 2. We will provide a brief overview of their design, specifications, battery life and price. When it comes to buying a new smart device, be it a tablet, smartphone or laptop, it proves worthwhile to see which one is providing the best performance for your money. When looking at smart devices, it is usually a good idea to see which operating system it is using and if it is up to date, this shows the manufacturer cares about what they are distributing and are providing the best option to end users.
Like most of the LG family, the LG G Pro 2 has a rather sleek design and is curved like majority of the smartphones you’ll see on display. It’s a rounded model that gives most space to its screen and comes off as being fairly professional.
- Design and Specifications
It’s a tad wider then what you might be used to as a Samsung or iPhone fan, but overall it’s a good size. The phones dimensions are 157.9 x 81.9 x 8.3 mm (or 6.22 x 3.22 x 0.33 in) which’ll place it on par with a lot of the other imminent phablets that’re going to be released relatively soon. It weighs in at 167g, which is a little on the heavy side but still lightweight enough to fit into your hands without much strain.
It’ll come with an Android OS, v4.4.2 (KitKat) and an expected Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset. In accordance with its Quad-core 2.26 GHz Krait 400, the LG G Pro 2 will glide like you’ve never seen an LG phone move before. It’s a remarkable movement from what you’ve been expecting from the LG share of the mobile market but haven’t actually seen in the company’s overall execution. Its internal specs will be 16/32 GB, alongside 3 GB RAM. With an implemented microSD, that number will be boosted up to 64 GB.

With a True IPS+ LCD capacitive touchscreen, and 16M colors the interface is rather expressive. At 1080 x 1920 pixels, 5.9 inches it blocks out the competition of LG’s current line with 373 ppi pixel density. There are other models on the market that have a better resolution, but for the price that you’ll be getting the LG G Pro 2 it’s a great deal. Not to mention the strong processor and ample storage space that you can optimize to your liking. As with most of the LG series, you can expect high-grade quality audio form this smartphone. There’s also a Dolby mobile sound enhancement attached, which should make the LG G Pro 2 your go-to for music storage and downloadable movies.

Here’s another quirk in the next LG installment. The camera itself is going to be a 13 MP, 4208 x 3120 pixels, with autofocus, and LED flash attached. There’s better cameras installed onto other models in the market, namely the Xperia series—but chances are that this’ll be plenty enough to appease even the most fickle amateur photographer. We’re expecting that the base consumer will be elated with the optimized photos capable of those specs. It’ll also feature geo-tagging, face detection, optical image stabilization, panorama, and HDR.
The video is where the LG G Pro 2 is going to outshine a lot of the competition. At the base of 2160p at 30fps, 1080p at 60fps, and 720p at 120fps; you can take your time deciding on what level of clarity you’d prefer in the realm of multimedia. It’ll also lay feature to dual-video recording, and HDR. So there’s a lot to take into consideration when weighing it against the rumored specs of the LG G3.
- Battery Life
The installed battery is going to be a Li-Ion 3200 mAh battery. Strong in an aspect of being able to take care of all your apps in a timely manner, but a little lack luster when it comes to enduring the hectic pace of someone’s daily routine. If you’re planning to purchase this phone in accordance to the workplace, take into careful consideration that it is going to give you 9-11+ hours of “talk time.” Not long at all, so you’ll be dependent on your car-charger or outlet to give the LG G Pro 2 some juice. If that doesn’t impede on your day, I’d say that it more than likely won’t matter to you. But it is an honest point to remain skeptical about.
In Conclusion
This’ll be a grandiose addition to the ever growing LG series. In my personal opinion, it’ll rival a lot of what we’re expected to see in the LG G3 release that’ll also come to light in the near future. But it has a chance to be overshadowed by some of the models that’ll attempt to tip the scales in camera optimization, processing power, and high-end resolution. What the LG G Pro 2 does have going in its corner however is the fact that it will hold its own in those fields for at least a month. I’m expecting the best out of this smartphone, and I am almost certain that in accordance to price that it’ll be reasonable.
At the moment, there is not even an estimate on the phone. So close to launch, that’ll either mean it is currently in the works for competitive pricing or the baseline will crash through the roof. Since even the LG G3 has yet to be given a range of price, it is a safe assumption that the folks at LG are keeping it under wraps until they’re certain how to place it.
