Announced in May 2014, the Japanese gaming studio known as 5pb has been developing a visual novel game based on a critically acclaimed anime series called PSYCHO-PASS; in 22 episodes, this science fictional psychological thriller follows the detectives named Akane Tsunemori and Shinya Kogami (including others in the investigation bureau) who live in a city governed by the Sibyl system that constantly monitors the stress and psychological levels of each civilian. To get rid of any threat or imposing danger, Akane and her team must track down potential murderers and sometimes eradicate them on the spot by using the Dominators; these lethal weapons measure the target’s stress levels and can fire an explosion at these targets who have a high but dangerous mental state.

While the second season will debut this coming October and the movie set for this winter, the 5pb will work on their visual novel called PSYCHO-PASS: Happiness Without Choice for the XBox One. According to AnimeNewsNetwork, the project’s setting will not take place at the heart of the large city but a remote island. Although the environment will be different, the time-frame for the game’s story will take place during the first six episodes of the first anime season.
However, Gen Urobuchi will create an original story that stars a new male and female character to serve as two protagonists who will battle against a new adversary. While new faces provide a fresh clean beginning to new comers, the familiar cast characters from the anime will also make a special appearance, but their returning roles will not be the main focus. However, the voice actors who will reprise their roles in the game and Director Makoto Asada will share more information at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show.
