The PS4 might have gained an early lead in the sales, beating the Xbox One by over one million sales so far. This does not reflect in the US, where the Xbox One is the favorite in more states, including to likes on Facebook.

The information, gathered by Motovo Real Estate Blog, shows what console is the most popular in each state. This includes the Xbox One, PS4 and Wii U, sadly the Wii U did not win in any states and we doubt it has won in any other country.

Microsoft’s Xbox One came first in 22 states, the PS4 came second winning in 19 states. The Wii U, as we said before, is not popular in any states. The West coast and states close to Texas make up most of the Xbox One winning states, while the PS4 winning states are in the middle of the country.

Nine states were placed in a “tie”, meaning the sales were almost the same or data could not be found for these states. It is interesting to see the different demographics and how Sony has been able to capture the central states in the US.

Traditionally, Xbox has always been the brand US citizens enjoy over the PlayStation, while in Europe PlayStation is more popular than Xbox. In Japan, the Xbox has never received any love, while the PS4 continues to grow, alongside the Wii U.

Something changed at E3 2013, when Sony decided to go all guns-blazing against Microsoft’s Xbox One. This forced Microsoft to change some of their DRM, second-hand sales and always-on connection, in order to regain popularity in the US.

Speculation continues to happen around the 180 and whether Microsoft might have been able to sell the new features once both consoles were available. The way Microsoft presented these features made consumers unhappy, forcing them to change.
