Fans of fantasy-adventure RPGs all over the world rejoiced when it was announced that a sequel to The Witcher 2 was in the works. Now we have more information to share about the publishing and distributing rights for the game.

CVG (Computerandvideogames.com) has reported that CD Projekt RED’s upcoming massive role-playing game will be distributed in all of Europe by Namco Bandai. That means it will have the publishing rights, marketing and distribution of The Witcher 3 on the PC, Xbox One and PS4 in the European region.

The complete list of countries for which Namco Bandai will have the publishing rights are Austria, Andorra, Finland, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Cyprus, Belgium, Italy, Monaco, Iceland, Portugal, Ireland, Finland, Norway, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Malta, Spain, Netherlands, Switzerland and the UK.

In a press statement, Mr. Adam Badowski who is the head of studio at CD Projekt Red revealed that, “We’ve worked with Namco Bandai Games before, so our partners there know both The Witcher and the ideals that drive us as a studio.” He also went on to say that, “We’re convinced that they understand our vision for the game and that they will do a great job at letting gamers know how the game’s open world and great story are going to change the next-gen RPG landscape.”

CD Projekt RED has done a great job till now with the previous Witcher games. The original Witcher which was launched in 2007 for the Windows platform and the OS X, received mostly positive reviews by many game reviewers and has a score of 81 out of 100 on Metacritic. The Witcher’s cinematic intro was even nominated for the 2007 VES awards in the category of Outstanding Pre-Rendered Visuals in a Video Game.

Then CD Projekt RED worked hard on a sequel to the original and released it to the public on May 17, 2011 for the Windows, Xbox 360 and the OS X. The hard work paid off as the sequel The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings received near universal acclaim from critics and fans alike who praised the game’s graphics, environments, combat and storyline. It also managed to win many best PC game, best RPG and Game of the Year awards.

Hence quite unsurprisingly, all eyes are once again on the polish studio to see how they have re-imagined the series with The Witcher 3. The game is already touted to have over 100 hours of content and a mind-boggling 36 different endings!

Also the fact that the game will be coming out only on the next-gen consoles and the PC would mean we can expect it to surpass its prequel’s graphics and environment in leaps and bounds. Its suffice to say all of us here at gamerheadlines are pumped up about The Witcher 3, how about you?
