Capcom has announced new content that will be added into the upcoming HD remaster of 2002’s Resident Evil.
During a community promotion to generate interest in Resident Evil HD, users were challenged to reach a specific goal Capcom had set up with the promise to add two new costumes for the Resident Evil HD remaster if the goal was met. The community has met that goal and now two new costumes will be added into the game.
The two costumes are the BSAA outfits for Chris and Jill, with Capcom giving no specifics as to how players will gain access to them within the title. Aside from visual and audio updates, this marks the first new addition included to the HD remaster that wasn’t featured in the 2002 GameCube original.
While this is, so far, the only new content to be added to the game, it could lead to more community promotions which could, in turn, lead to more new content being added to the upcoming remaster.
Released originally in 2002 for the GameCube, Resident Evil was, at the time, the first of three exclusive Resident Evil titles to be released on the Nintendo console.
Back in 2011, Resident Evil 4 received an HD remaster for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, which leaves Resident Evil 0 as the only original GameCube Resident Evil title to not have an HD remaster planned or released at this time.
For now, fans of the horror series won’t have to wait too long for the next HD remaster as Resident Evil HD will be released in early 2015 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
