[dropcap size=dropcap]L[/dropcap]ong before Ryse Son of Rome to be released, Crytek unveiled that the video game will offer a rather casual experience, similar to that of a feature movie, not a classic game. Their words were eventually proven to be true by all those who were able to test Son of Rome before launch date. Many of them were quite unhappy about the excessive QTE (quick time events) and the battles that had the same finalities regardless of the players’ actions.
Now that the game was released, we were able to get more reviews from different types of players and the conclusion is unanimous: Ryse Son of Rome may be compared to a beautiful but incredibly stupid human being. It’s nice to see it, you want to be seen around it but when it comes to do something, there is no point. You will get disappointed.
According to the developer’s specifications and to our expectations, the game supports Kinect and SmartGlass. The story revolves around the fearless roman soldier Marius Titus who joins the army in hope that somehow, his decision will help him protect then avenge his family. In the end, he gets to become a general and a real hero that will fight to save the Roman Empire as well. And, just like in a Hollywood movie, we’ll have revenges, betrayals and divine interventions.
Titus fails to protect his family whose members are murdered by the barbarian bandits. Not too happy about the outcome, he travels with the Roman army to Britannia to seek revenge. He will quickly advance in ranks, becoming a leader for the army and a protector for the Roman Empire.
While ‘Ryse: Son of Rome’ was not well received by all those who were expecting a next gen video game, it will definitely be valued for its cinematic recreation of the Roman Empire. A realistic and breathtaking recreation of one of the greatest civilizations Earth has seen, from the northern reaches of Britannia, to the Coliseum and the very heart of Rome itself.
Revision3 has published a new and interesting video review for the new video game developed by Crytek and published by Microsoft, Ryse: Son of Rome. The game was released today, November 22 2013, together with the next gen console Xbox One.
