Stardew Valley Gifts Guide: Best Gifts for Every Villager
Find accessible Loved gifts for every Stardew Valley villager, with birthdays, Stardrop Tea, universal gifts, and friendship tips for version 1.6.15.
Building relationships with the villagers is one of the most rewarding parts of Stardew Valley. Getting a villager to maximum hearts unlocks unique cutscenes, recipes in the mail, and even marriage.
The fastest way to a villager’s heart is by giving them gifts they Love. While every character has a long list of liked and loved items, if you are looking for the best stardew valley gifts, we have narrowed this reference guide down to practical Loved gift options, with notes on when or how they become available. This guide is fully verified for Patch 1.6.15.
Working toward True Perfection? You’ll also need all 130 Golden Walnut locations on Ginger Island.
The Best Universal Gifts in Stardew Valley 1.6.15
If you don’t have a specific villager’s favorite item on hand, Universal Loves are items that almost every single person in town will be thrilled to receive.
The Power of Stardrop Tea (Introduced in 1.6)
Update 1.6 introduced Stardrop Tea, which completely changes the gifting meta.
- It is universally loved and grants 250 friendship points (1 full heart).
- It bypasses the weekly gift limit. You can give a villager Stardrop Tea even if you have already given them two gifts that week.
- Unlike normal gifts that receive an 8x multiplier on birthdays or a 5x multiplier at the Feast of the Winter Star, Stardrop Tea is a special exception that grants a fixed 750 friendship points (3 hearts) on either occasion.
Classic Universal Loves
If you can’t find Stardrop Tea, these classic items remain universally loved (with a few rare exceptions, such as Haley hating Prismatic Shards and Penny hating Rabbit’s Feet):
- Golden Pumpkin
- Magic Rock Candy
- Pearl
- Prismatic Shard
- Rabbit’s Foot

Stardew Valley Gifting Tips & Multipliers
To maximize your friendship gains, keep these mechanics in mind:
1. Never Miss a Birthday
Giving a villager a normal Liked or Loved gift on their birthday multiplies the friendship points earned by 8x. Giving a villager a Loved gift on their birthday is the single most efficient way to gain hearts in the entire game. Check the calendar outside Pierre’s shop regularly.
2. Quality Matters
The quality of the item you gift (Silver, Gold, or Iridium star) affects how many points you get for Liked and Loved gifts.
- Silver Star: +10% points
- Gold Star: +25% points
- Iridium Star: +50% points
3. The Feast of the Winter Star
During the Feast of the Winter Star festival in Winter, the normal gift you give to your secret gift recipient is worth 5x the usual amount of friendship points. Combined with a high-quality Loved gift, this is a massive boost.
4. Read “Friendship 101” (Introduced in 1.6)
Added in update 1.6, you can acquire a book called Friendship 101 primarily through the Prize Machine’s reward progression at Lewis’s house. While it can also be bought from the Bookseller for 20,000g, this is a later-game or conditional availability. Reading this book grants a permanent power that increases all friendship points you earn by 10%. This stacks with all other multipliers.
