With 13 independent game developers left, Gamer Headlines is gradually getting closer to the end of our appreciation event, but we are still motivated and thrilled to name these last studios that have sacrificed their time, money, and energy into their projects like Superbrothers: Swords & Sworcery Ep.
Developed by a private Canadian studio called Superbrothers and Capybara Games (another Canadian game developing studio), this exploratory action adventure with an emphasis on audiovisual style is set in a mystical pixel realm with a leading female character known as “the Scythian”. This voiceless heroine–who first arrived originally for the iPad on March 2011–is led by the players who must use the touch-screen mechanics to lead the protagonist through each map and activate her attacks by clicking on the shield or sword. When the user obtains a magic book called the “Megatome”, the woman can then read the thoughts of others, which is the primary dialogue throughout the game. Due to the limited amount of options, this short game has been divided into four sessions.
Now, personal computer users can acquire this imaginative title for Windows, Mac, Linux or download it from Steam.

Besides the general summary, here’s a thank you message!
“The killer soundtrack and beautiful atmospheric pixel environments will leave you wanting more. The modern and contemporary game really sends you into an alternate dimension where you literally get lost in this fantasy story/tragedy. For a game that’s originally meant for the phone, the controls and interface are a bit different, but it’s easy to ignore. Along this journey, you will laugh and cry toward end at humorous and touchy moment scenes if you’re a sensitive and emotional person like me. For a game that touch my soul, you have my thanks. ”
