We hate being the bearers of bad news. After the announcements regarding The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s push-back to 2015 and leaks revealing extremely high system requirements, we fortunately won’t have to, at least not today. Today, we’re bringing Witcher fans some good news for a change. Whenver we’re talking about sequels, we expect to meet new foes and enemies. The same can be said about The Witcher 3, which will feature some extremely interesting monsters to slay, as you’d expect from a game that lets you play as a professional monster slayer. One such monster has been revealed however, and it’s an interesting one at that too. Meet the griffin, one creature that isn’t as friendly as J.K. Rowling depicts it in Harry Potter.
“The griffin looks like a combination of a ferocious cat and a giant bird. It usually inhabits primeval highlands and builds its nests on unreachable mountain summits. The griffin preys on large mammals and, being a highly territorial creature, fiercely defends its hunting grounds.”
The griffin in The Witcher 3 will be a challenging monster to face. It’s true to mythology and common lore, being designed to resemble a mixture between a lion and an eagle. The griffin will be but one of the newly introduced monsters, and can be found on high mountain peaks where it likes to nest. CD Projekt Red has promised to invest greatly into populating the large and vast open-world that we’ll be seeing in The Wild Hunt, and we’re likely to encounter many more new foes in the diverse terrain. However, old enemies will surely be returning too, and we’ve already seen glimpses of harpies and trolls.
Artwork was never lacking in the Witcher series, and The Witcher 3’s griffin seems to reinforce this. We’re curious to see what else CD Projekt Red will come up with. What other monsters would you like to see in the game?
