A few days ago, it was announced that Titanfall would be getting a variety of new game modes, however, its release date, the cost of Titanfall’s new modes, and the type of modes were not disclosed. This release is important because a key critique of the game is the lack of variety. The new first person shooter only launched with five modes: Attrition, Capture the Flag, Hardpoint Domination, Last Titan Standing, and Pilot Hunter.
Now, the co-founder of Respawn Entertainment, Vince Zampella, stated on Twitter: “[Titanfall’s new modes] release will be free to all, not part of DLC.” However, the description of the game modes or when it will be released is still under-wraps. He also goes on to briefly talk about the DLC and how it might be awhile before the general public sees it: “DLC is in the works, not quite done yet though.” Furthermore, the season pass’ price, which includes all three of Titanfall’s DLC, will be $25; the standalone price of each DLC will be $10, which means that the player will save $5 if he or she buys the season pass.
Last, Vince Zampella stated that private matches will come soon; a feature that has been thoroughly talked about since the game’s release. Besides this, Titanfall has been consistently in the news since its March 11th release; recently, the Xbox 360 version has been delayed until April 8th. Also, Electronic Arts purchased the publication rights of the sequel, which means that it probably will not be a Microsoft exclusive. And most recently, Titanfall was experiencing PC and Xbox One server outages because of Xbox Live problems. But the fact that Titanfall’s new modes will be free, shows that Respawn Entertainment cares about their fan base; it could have been packaged with their DLC, but this move reveals that the company wants to keep their fans happy, and most importantly, playing.
