Top five horror games…

#5  Dead space 2                                            

There is no doubt that Dead Space 2 is a terrifying game just being isolated with normal zombies is hell.But when your stranded in space with necromorphs is there even any point in trying to survive. However this game did lose some of its scare factor because you know how to kill the beasts that reside within.Another issue is towards the end of the game the bosses become huge abominations and by this point your weapons will be fully upgraded and you will be a fearless necromorph hunter. Nevertheless this game honors the dead space trademark and is a true horror game.

#4  Slender the arrival                               

This game began as a small project but after its release it escalated and began to scare thousands.After its astronomical success  the abomination known as slender the arrival was born. It has so many strong points especially the fact that there are no weapons and no way to fight back you can only run. This is amazing and combining the slender man lore with great graphics and no  form of defense. Even someone who has never played a game can play this thanks to its simple mechanics. All of this makes an excellent horror game.

#3 Resident Evil                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 

Conceived by the master of horror (Shinji Mikami) Resident Evil was the first true survival horror it took all of the best pieces from other horror games and added scarce ammo and nearly invincible creatures. However after Resident Evil 4 the horror faded away and Resident Evil became an action game. Thankfully Shinji Mikami has listened to the thousands of fans and has started a new game called the Evil within which hopefully will be the spiritual successor to the amazing franchise.

The Evil Within even pays homage to the original resident evil by setting part of one of the chapters in a mansion. Before he enters the character says “I feel like i have been here before” this thinks back to the mansion in resident evil 1. This shows the series is not quite dead yet and in an interview not that long ago Capcom talked about making resident evil survival HORROR again. But because of the more recent games fans may have already lost hope.

#2 Amnesia  Although there have been many takes on the amnesia games nothing beats the original. For those who have never played amnesia the game puts you in a mansion populated by beats of death and destruction.This game bases its scares on the sanity of the player and how paranoid they are. The worst scares are not when you are being chased by the monsters its when you are scared to go around every corner , or whether or not you should look in the closet. In this game puzzle solving plays a big role it helps to cause tension when your running from one of the in game abominations and you run into a puzzle. Sometimes they are to open doors these are the worst because if you cant do it  your probably not going to survive the horror.

#1 Outlast Now this for me was a no brainier. Outlast takes Amnesia’s idea of no weapons and a limited amount of resources. But the reason this is above Amnesia in this list is the story. The story is incredible and sets you up for a great adventure through out this intense experience and it gives you a reason to carry on. However you will uncover plenty of mysterious secrets that will add even more horror to the game. In this game you will use your video camera and record the horrors you experience with the goal of escaping mount massive and reveal the truth to the world.  Without the creation of Amnesia  outlast would not exist as this owes everything to amnesia. Amnesia is the original idea to have no weapons and no way to defend yourself. To me this is the true meaning of horror and this is where nightmares are born.
