If you have been living under a rock for the past year, Evolve is an online, multiplayer game brought to you by the team that brought us the Left 4 Dead franchise. Left 4 Dead was an exciting zombie game which allowed four players to work cooperatively throughout levels in order to reach the following safe-house, alternatively you could play in up to 4 vs 4 matches allowing one team to play as the survivors, and the other team to play as zombies, then they would alternate sides trying to stop the opposing team. Evolve is a next-gen game which takes many of the great Left 4 Dead features and mechanics and adds to them. Evolve puts 4 players versing 1 opposing player, the 1 opposing player plays as the monster which the other 4 players have been given the task to hunt down and kill. The monsters which have been announced include:
The name of the Goliath says a lot about this monster. The Goliath is a large, strong beast,which can toss massive boulders at the four opposing players, this monster also gains the ability to breathe fire.
The Kraken is another monster which physically is fairly self-explanatory. The Kraken has many tentacles, which can create bio-electricity. The Kraken also has the ability to hover/fly.
Monsters in this game become stronger and stronger by consuming things from the environment and leveling up. A third monster has been suggested, however has yet to be announced. One could also speculate potential for monster and level DLC for this game. In this game if you are playing as one of the four players tasked with hunting down the monster, you typically want to do that as fast as possible, limiting the amount of time the monster has to level up.
There are four different classes you can choose from if you are one of the four players hunting down the monster, those four classes include a medic, a support class, an assault class, and a trapper. Each class with its own set of abilities which makes each class and player vital to the killing of the monster. This game is set to release on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 on October 21st, 2014.
