As the excitement from E3 2014 sinks in Microsoft today released details on the up and coming July system update for the Xbox One. The preview for this update will be released “in the next few days” and testers will be able to try out a handful of new features.
New features include:
Snap mode for achievements. Isn’t it frustrating when you’re grinding an achievement and having to go back and forth to check on your progress? Well rest easy achievement hunters as the new snap mode shown at Microsofts E3 conference allows players to check their progress in real time and without interrupting game play. You can also ‘Get Help’ on an achievements you’re about to rage quit over. Xbox will now scan the web for relevant tips and guides and deliver them straight to you.
Choice of spoken language. Players in Austria, New Zealand and Ireland will soon be able to select voice control using the English and German voice models from other countries. If you’re an expatriate in an English speaking country you too can choose any of the English language models that fit you.
‘Like’ game DVR clips. Microsoft will be adding the ability to ‘like’ all your favorite DVR clips as well as activity feed items in SmartGlass. So get ‘liking’.
Double-tap to snap. Double tapping the button on your Xbox controller will bring up snap centre, where you can launch achievements and any other app that it allows you, without leaving your game. When the update is released you’ll be able to double tap quickly while an app is snapped to quickly and smoothly change between your snapped app and your game.
Future digital bundles and compilation discs. With this in the works publishers will soon be able to offer great digital bundles and disc compilations. As this improves so will the combination of game titles and game content.
It seems that Microsoft are listening to all Xbox One owners loud and clear and these improvements will keep coming making the future of the Xbox One very bright indeed.
