Rebel Wolves has confirmed that The Blood of Dawnwalker, its upcoming historical horror-RPG, will launch with a Performance Mode targeting 60fps on PlayStation 5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X. The announcement, made via Twitter on August 24, comes just over a week before the game’s September 3 release, following backlash from players who were concerned about the absence of a high-frame-rate option at launch.

The developer acknowledged the community’s response directly, stating, “It was clear how much this mattered to many of you, so we focused on finishing the next round of tests.” The Performance Mode will be available on day one through the launch patch, ensuring players can experience the game at 60fps from the very start.

Performance Mode Details and Platform Scaling

According to the official announcement, the settings scale is consistent across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Players will have three options: Performance mode targeting 60fps, Balanced mode targeting 40fps, and Quality mode aiming for 30fps. This gives console players flexibility to prioritize frame rate or visual fidelity based on their preferences.

Interestingly, the PS5 version will also receive “some more overall visual enhancements” beyond the standard settings, though the specifics of these enhancements were not detailed in the announcement. This suggests that Sony’s console may have a slight edge in visual presentation, but the core performance targets remain identical across both platforms.

Rebel Wolves Responds to Community Feedback

The decision to add the Performance Mode at launch marks a shift from the developer’s earlier stance. In a previous response on Friday, Rebel Wolves had indicated that while a Performance Mode was “already in the works,” it was “still being tested” and they “simply weren’t ready to promise it yet.” The backlash from players, however, prompted the team to accelerate their testing process.

“It was clear how much this mattered to many of you,” the developer said, explaining their renewed focus on completing the necessary tests. This responsiveness highlights Rebel Wolves’ commitment to addressing player concerns in the lead-up to launch, a move that will likely be welcomed by the game’s growing community.

What This Means for the Game’s Launch

With the Performance Mode confirmed for day one, The Blood of Dawnwalker is set to deliver a smoother experience on current-gen consoles from the outset. The inclusion of a 60fps option is particularly significant for action-RPG fans, as it enhances combat responsiveness and overall gameplay fluidity.

The game, developed by Rebel Wolves, is scheduled to release on September 3. As the launch approaches, this announcement should alleviate concerns about performance and solidify the game’s appeal to players who prioritize high frame rates. The developer’s willingness to adapt based on feedback bodes well for the game’s post-launch support and community relations.
