Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is now available after its October 9, 2026 launch on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Existing PS5, Xbox, and PC players need the paid expansion and the base game; the Switch 2 release combines both in one package. PC Gamer reports that players already in the Unmoored World cannot enter the expansion until New Game+. Players on a normal-world save can begin by visiting Captain Brant in Vernworth at night after checking ownership and save state.

Is Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen available now?

Yes. Capcom lists October 9, 2026 as the release date across Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Steam displays October 8 for the PC DLC because its unlock occurred earlier in the US time zone.

This is a paid expansion to Dragon’s Dogma 2. On PC, Steam sells it as DLC that requires the base game. The Steam product page explicitly requires the base game and advises players to update it to the latest patch when needed.

Which version of Dark Arisen do you need?

The right purchase depends on your platform and whether you already own Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Capcom calls Dark Arisen a paid expansion and says the Switch 2 version combines the main game and expansion. On PC, Steam lists the expansion as DLC that requires the base game. Store pages can sell multiple sets containing overlapping items, so read the contents instead of relying on the product name alone.

How do you start Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen?

For a normal pre-endgame save, go to The Stardrop Inn in Vernworth at night and speak with Captain Brant. A PC Gamer launch-day walkthrough reports that the new dialogue starts the expansion and recommends level 40 for the Norgan content, although access itself is possible earlier.

Before traveling there:

  1. Confirm that the expansion is owned and installed for the same platform account as the base game.
  2. Update Dragon’s Dogma 2 to the current version.
  3. Load the intended character and check whether the save is still in the normal world or has entered the Unmoored World.
  4. Travel to Vernworth, wait until night, and speak to Captain Brant at The Stardrop Inn.

PC Gamer presents level 40 as guidance for the new content. Capcom’s official product material does not list a required level. The expansion’s dungeons vary in difficulty, so lower-level access does not mean every encounter will be comfortable.

What if your save is already in the Unmoored World?

A character in the Unmoored World cannot use the normal-world Captain Brant start route. PC Gamer reports that a character in the Unmoored World must enter New Game+ before accessing Dark Arisen.

The launch-day walkthrough states that New Game+ retains the character’s level, equipment, and items while resetting quest progress and quest items. Players who care about finishing Unmoored World objectives should do that before moving on rather than rushing into a new cycle solely for expansion access.

What does the Dark Arisen expansion add?

The headline addition is Forsaken Dominion, a new story in the snow-covered Norgan region. Capcom says the Arisen joins Eir to investigate the undying Fallen Dragon, appraises forgotten relics, and unlocks new weapons and skills.

The expansion also adds Lost Rites, a set of 12 new dungeon challenges placed across the existing main-game world. These dungeons hold rare equipment and are framed as Pathfinder trials rather than one continuous new region. New hairstyles and tattoos expand the character creator for the Arisen and Pawns.

Capcom previously used Dark Arisen for the expanded version of the original game; GamerHeadlines reported that edition’s Switch sales reaching 1.3 million. The 2026 release is Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, a different product from that older edition.
