So we decided to give you a little help. You can either upgrade to the latest iPhone 6, or you can remain with your handy iPhone 5S. Or you can wait for next year there is going to be a bigger better iPhone that would be the “one” to get. Yes, it can be a hard choice to make, especially when you see your friends sporting the new iPhone, but don’t despair. We have the pros and cons in helping you make the right decision.
Internal Storage and Display
The specifications of the device play a major role in choosing which one. The newest iPhone comes with a bigger display at 4.7 inches running on a dual-core A8 Apple professor with a resolution of 1334X750, and clocking in at 1.4 GHz. The newest iPhone also has a 1GB RAM with 128 GB of storage.
Looking at the iPhone 5S it has a smaller display at 4 inches running on a dual-core A7 processor with 1136X640 resolution and clocking in at 1.3 GHz. They both run on 1GB RAM but has a smaller storage at 64GB. So the newest iPhone has a faster processor and a larger internal storage capacity than its predecessor. But for those that don’t want to have a larger phone it could be a problem for that use to holding a smaller device in their hands.
Performance and CPU Speed
The latest iPhones runs on the new A8 processor with 2bm transistors, which is twice the power of the A7 processor on iPhone 5S. The 20nm is more than half more powerful offering better graphics, with a 25% faster CPU than iPhone 5S. For lovers of games this a great, as the phone runs smoother and offer a better performance. However, they both use a 64-bit processor.
The upgrade to the latest processor also helps in determining if the user is cycling, running, or walking, in estimating the distance covered and their elevation.
Connectivity
Both devices are supported on a 4G LTE network. Compared to the iPhone 5S’s 13 LTE bands, however is overshadowed by the iPhone 6 upgrade that is supported by 20 LTE bands. Features for connectivity incorporate an NFC and 802.11 AC Wi-Fi connection not included in the iPhone 5S, with a Touch ID sensor to support the newest mobile Apple payment system.
Taking Pictures
For both devices, each has a front and back camera with 1.2MP and 720P video recording capabilities. The iPhone 6 provides an upgrade to their rear camera unlike their previous model with 8 more MP. The latest version also introduces the Apple’s Focus Pixel technology which helps in focusing when recording videos and taking pictures.
Price
Of course, the iPhone 6 will be higher than iPhone 5S, which is expected with the better upgrades. The price is at $100 higher, with the 16 GB iPhone 5S at $199 with a contract and the larger memories around $300 to $400.
Overall it is your preference in what you want, but you can always wait until next year.
