Crunchyroll, the streaming service that bills itself as “the global and ultimate destination for anime fandom,” has arrived on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. Anime fans in those three markets can now subscribe directly through PlayStation Media Hub on either console, according to the announcement on the PlayStation Blog, published October 26 by Nancy Kim, a senior director at Sony Interactive Entertainment.
The rollout brings what the post describes as “hundreds of anime titles” to PS5 and PS4, with Black Clover Season 2 and Overgeared called out by name. The base subscription is signed up through PlayStation Media Hub, and the Mega Fan membership is purchased through PlayStation Store. Media Hub is the console’s content hub, where video services are grouped on the home screen, so Crunchyroll now appears alongside the other streaming apps with no separate install. Sign-up and billing happen on the console itself, so no browser or phone is needed.
The Mega Fan price in each market
The tier named in the announcement is Crunchyroll Mega Fan. It costs IDR 49,000 per month in Indonesia, MYR 14.90 per month in Malaysia, and THB 119 per month in Thailand. Those work out to roughly USD 3.05, USD 3.20, and USD 3.55 respectively, so no single market is priced out of line with the others.
For that monthly fee, Mega Fan removes ads and adds offline downloads, though device support for downloads is not spelled out. The tier also allows streaming on up to four devices at once.
The gaming angle: Crunchyroll Game Vault
Mega Fan also includes Crunchyroll Game Vault, a collection of more than 100 anime-inspired mobile games. No separate download or purchase is mentioned for the Game Vault titles beyond the membership itself. The Game Vault games run on phones, while the subscription is sold on the console.
Crunchyroll already streams Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, and it earlier gated its official merch store behind a monthly membership. Game Vault inside Mega Fan extends that membership push to the console rollout.
What the announcement does not say
The post names only these three markets, only the Mega Fan tier, and no trial or promotion. The post is tagged for Southeast Asia in its own headline, matching the three named markets. No timeline is given for other Southeast Asian countries, and no cheaper ad-supported tier is confirmed for these markets.
On the hardware side, PS5 and PS4 are listed together, and feature parity between the two is left unstated. Offline downloads, the four-device limit, and Game Vault access are described at the tier level, not per console, so PS4 owners get the same app and the same monthly price without a guarantee that every benefit works identically on older hardware.
Viewers in the three markets can confirm availability through Media Hub on their own console, and the PlayStation Store listing carries the Mega Fan price for their region.
