Earlier today, GamerHeadlines reported on the news that BioWare, in celebration of N7 Day, was holding a roundtable discussion with Mass Effect‘s developers on Twitch (as seen in the tweet below).

One of the most interesting developments to come from the aforementioned BioWare’s Mass Effect roundtable discussion was a veritable bevy of new concept art from the Canadian developer’s next game – Mass Effect 4.
The new concept art showcases new alien planets, species, the Mako, the Citadel, and more.
Note: Mass Effect 4 is a tentative, working title. BioWare has previously stated they don’t want it to be a numbered entry, more of a spiritual successor – if you will – rather than a direct sequel.

It was also revealed during BioWare’s roundtable discussion that Mass Effect 4’s team will have Chris Schlerf onboard the project as the game’s lead writer. Schlerf was also the lead writer on 343 Industries’ well-received Halo 4.
Furthermore, the following is from a recent Bioware post in regards to the story of Mass Effect 4.
“With Shepard, you arrived on the scene as a hero, and you were called forward from there. For the next Mass Effect, however, we’ve been looking at more of a hero’s journey: how you become a legend and what it takes to get there.”
In related news, BioWare general manager, Aaryn Flynn, took to NeoGAF to ask fans what features they would want to see a remastered release of the Mass Effect trilogy.
Some ideas included the standard 1080p/60fps requests, high resolution textures, free DLC, and a “seamless experience” that would allow gamers to go from one game to another without the need to go to a menu and import saves.
In regards to the follow-up to the Mass Effect trilogy, not much information is known about the next ME game. At a Comic Con, earlier this year, BioWare stated that the new protagonist will somehow be connected to N7. Furthermore, there is evidence that it will may place during Commander Shepard’s lifetime, albeit in another galaxy. However, this is all rumor and speculation, so be wary.
What are your thoughts on these developments regarding Mass Effect 4 (or whatever BioWare decides to call the next entry into the series)? What did you think of the game’s concept art? Impressed? Why or why not?
Also, what do you think of Halo 4 writer, Chris Schlerf, being on Mass Effect 4‘s team?
