Already planning to pick up four super cheap GameCube controllers for the next Super Smash Bros. when getting the adapter for the Wii U? Why not get some of the real thing at a decent price?
Over at Amazon, an official Nintendo GameCube controller that’s black and has the Super Smash Bros. logo right in the middle of it is now available to pre-order at the cost of $29.99.
Right now there’s just a placeholder date on it, but obviously these things won’t be in the wild until closer to when the next Smash Bros. game comes out. Currently Super Smash Bros. for Wii U has a projected release in the fourth quarter of 2014. Its handheld partner will be released for the 3DS on October 3rd in the United States.
Despite them coming out around the same time, these versions are different and will be considered the fourth and fifth different entries in the series.
Super cheap third-party controllers can be had for about $8 on Amazon — sometimes even two for less than $14. But they lack the quality and touch of the actual GameCube controller, and $30 isn’t bad considering new official controllers generally go for $40-50.
Now if only they would release Wavebird editions…
