Nintendo has recently clarified what portions of Mario Kart 8’s upcoming DLC packs will be usable during online gameplay.
According to VentureBeat.com, owners of Mario Kart 8’s DLC will be able to utilize all of the DLC online with other owners of the same DLC. However, those who do not own the DLC will only be able to see the new DLC characters in online matchers, while the new DLC race tracks will not be playable.
VentureBeat.com explains that at the beginning of an online match an option will appear asking players to select whether to play the original race tracks include in the game or all of the race tracks which includes the DLC. From there online users will be playing with fellow DLC owners or just the owners of the core game.
Nintendo has recently given Mario Kart 8’s first DLC pack a release date of November 13th, while the second DLC pack is scheduled for May 2015.
Mario Kart 8 is available now at both retail and the Nintendo eShop and is exclusively for Wii U.
