Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo Price Review Battery Life Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo has one thing going for it – it’s cheap. But, that’s where the good news ends, at least at a first glance. It’s no powerhouse phone, and there’s a lot to be compromised to get the lower price. Still, it might be a good fit for some users, and thus, we’re reviewing the Neo so that you can get a better understanding of what exactly it offers.

The design of the Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo is a traditional one and today its 5.66 x 3.04 x 0.38 inch size doesn’t seem like a big surprise, but its overall weight of about 163 grams make it heavy compared to other 5 inch phones on the market. A nice feature of the design is its matte surface on the back, which is far nicer than the company’s usual glossy finish and doesn’t attract fingerprints.

Featuring a Cortex-A7 Quad-Core 1.2 GHz processor, backed up by a BCM23550 chipset and running on Android OS v4.2 Jelly Bean the device lacks any proper GPU or RAM. This doesn’t allow the Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo to run most of today’s high-end mobile games, but it should be perfect for any business or lifestyle applications and the addictive games that doesn’t require additional graphical processoring power.

Even though the Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo comes with a 5 inch display, which always seems as a nice feature, the smart device could’ve saved a lot in size, as the overall pixel density of its display is only about 186 ppi, making the size only 480×800 pixels. As a result, everything seems pixelated and even though it has high brightness and color density and is 5 inch in size, the display of the smartphone is still one of its biggest setbacks. The loudspeakers of the smart device however are better than the one featured on the Galaxy S4 and the Xperia C and its headphones output power is also pretty decent.

The camera featured on the Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo is a bit of an downgrade compared to the one featured on last year’s Galaxy Grand as it is only 5 MP in size. With some of its features, even the HDR being unavailable, photos taken with the smart device are decen under the right conditions, but often come out noisy and generally unpleasant for the eyes. The video recording is at 720p quality and 30 FPS and although it is low compared to other smartphones on the market is pretty decent, especially compared to the photo quality.

One of the best qualities of the Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo is that due to its screen resolution and processor the smart device has astounding endurance powers. Even though the 2100 mAh battery featured on the device may seem small compared to other smartphones currently available on the market, the device has up to 13 hours of talk time, up to 8 hours of web browsing and about 7 hours of video playback.

Even though the Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo may seem as a downgrade version of the Galaxy Grand, which the manufacturer released last year, it is a decent smartphone. Its screen and camera are major setbacks, but its battery life and hardware capabilities make the device perfect for its price range on the market. If you are in need of a relatively cheap smartphone and you aren’t searching for the best multimedia experience, this smartphone should be a perfect choice.
