Minecraft Dungeons II, the sequel to Minecraft Dungeons, an action RPG, launches globally today, September 29, on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and cloud, and it is included with Game Pass. It is also available on Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2, with Xbox Play Anywhere support. Xbox Wire’s hands-on coverage details an interconnected world with no loading screens and a new dimension called the Sift.
A Connected World Built on Unreal Engine 5
According to Xbox Wire, the world links regions such as the forest-filled Howling Woods, the icy Frozen Highlands, and the muddy Rainy Plains without loading screens. It runs on Unreal Engine 5, bringing improved lighting and more detailed characters. The sequel adds deeper character builds, more detailed gear, and the ability to jump. Players can travel with Minecart Stations, Teleport Statues, a Guidance Trail that points toward the active quest, and Respawn Shrines. Defeated players resurrect at a hub called Brave Haven.
Xbox Wire also confirmed familiar enemies, including zombies, creepers, skeletons, and spiders. Up to four players can team up in online or couch co-op. Players who saw the official gameplay trailer that revealed the game in August will recognize the more mobile combat and expanded gear systems now arriving at launch.
The Sift Dimension, Boss Totems, and Loot
Xbox Wire describes the Sift as a pastel-infused visual design unlike anything seen in Minecraft before. Boss Totems near boss arenas, such as a Witch boss in the northern Howling Woods, can reactivate a fight for another chance at loot. Rifts and Dungeons hold foes and loot chests. Loot includes Enchantment Books that add abilities to equipment, with examples like Healing Smite, Ender Mines, and Somersault. Echo Shards are used to upgrade Merchants, Blacksmiths, and equipment.
Editions and Game Pass Availability
At launch, the standard edition is $29.99. The Deluxe Edition is $49.99 and includes four hero skins, a Soul cape cosmetic, a Blub pet companion, and DLC 1 and 2 when they release. With day one availability on Game Pass, the release is one of the more notable additions in September’s Game Pass lineup.
