Bandai Namco Entertainment America revealed a new trailer at Evo France 2026 showcasing gameplay for Roger Jr., bringing back a character first introduced in Tekken 5. The reveal gives players their first full look at how the returning fighter plays, as Roger Jr. comes back as the third playable character of Tekken 8 Season 3. Bandai Namco has given the fighter the nickname the Pocket Commander, and his fighting style is called Commando Wrestling, built around powerful attacks and pro-wrestling throws.
Roger Jr.’s story and Season 3 teammates
The trailer also sets up Roger Jr.’s role in the season’s story. He is wrongly framed for the destruction of a G Corporation building after dealing with his father Roger, who has been unfaithful to his mother. Roger Jr. and his mother then set out together to defeat their assailants and take down the head of G Corporation, putting the returning character directly at odds with the company.
For Season 3, Roger Jr. joins Bob, Kunimitsu, and the upcoming Yujiro Hanma. The trailer gave fans a first in-game look at Yujiro Hanma as well, and Bandai Namco plans to reveal his gameplay trailer during the Tekken World Tour Finals on January 17, 2027.
Release timing and platforms
Roger Jr. will be available for Tekken 8 Season Pass 3 holders on Thursday, November 12 in North America as an early access release. The character then opens up to all players on Tuesday, November 17, 2026.
Tekken 8 is developed by Bandai Namco Studios Inc. and is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The reveal follows a busy stretch of news for the game, which recently saw the former Tekken 8 director Kohei Ikeda joining VS Studio.
Evo France and the road to the World Tour Finals
Alongside the trailer, Bandai Namco crowned the Tekken 8 tournament champion at Evo France 2026. The result adds another chapter to Tekken 8’s competitive season as the scene builds toward the Tekken World Tour Finals, set to take place at Evo Singapore 2027. Roger Jr. is set to join the roster this November.
