Gaijin Entertainment has previewed a login streak “freeze” mechanic for War Thunder that stops the game’s daily login streak from resetting when a player skips a day. The system, laid out in a Steam announcement on October 26, hands out freeze points that automatically cover missed logins and will ship to both War Thunder and War Thunder Mobile.

How freeze points work

Freeze points are earned one at a time. Every 12 logins, consecutive or not, grant a single point, and an account can hold up to 30 at once. Each point protects the daily login streak for one missed day. The point is spent automatically the moment the streak would otherwise end, so a trip or a break needs no planning.

Three points survive a three-year absence. Gaijin spells this out: a player who walks away with three points returns three years later with three points still banked, and the 12-day counter resumes where it stopped. Miss more days than the points you hold and the streak resets, but the points remain.

Points are spent only when they cover a full miss. One point against a two-day absence saves nothing; the streak resets and the point stays banked.

One point per 12 logins works out to about 30 a year, which is also the ceiling. A fully active player can cover about a month of missed days across a year, and no more. Earning the protection is more forgiving than the streak it protects: the 12 logins that produce a point can be scattered, while the streak itself still breaks on a single missed day.

Today one missed day in War Thunder resets the streak to zero, which punishes travel, illness, or forgetting to launch the game. Under the new system a missed day costs one point instead of a full reset, and a weekend away no longer wipes a long-running streak. The streak runs alongside other daily systems such as the seasonal Battle Pass.

One pool shared with mobile

The points are shared across War Thunder and War Thunder Mobile rather than tracked per game. Logging into either game earns one point per day. When a miss needs covering, the system spends points on the game with fewer missed days first. With eight points against three missed War Thunder days and ten missed mobile days, the PC streak is protected, while the mobile streak is restored to the point it reached on the player’s last War Thunder login.

Free for everyone

The system is available to every player and is not linked to a Premium account, and points cannot be bought or sold. Gaijin frames them as a reward for logging in regularly. Every account reaches the same 30-point ceiling, whether free or Premium.

No release date yet

The announcement is labeled “Work-In-Progress” in Gaijin’s own title, which matches the absence of a build number or patch notes. Gaijin has not said when the mechanic will go live, only that it will confirm once it is ready, and the post does not state whether the freeze ships inside the next major update sketched in the studio’s Community Update No. 13 or arrives separately. A visible indicator for available freezes will appear on the daily login screen once the system ships. Until then, the streak keeps working the old way and the freeze points do not exist in the live game.
